Beginning with RiOS version 6.1, there are two new admissionControl SNMP traps defined in the RiOS Steelhead MIB.
admissionCpuError
This SNMP trap will be send out when the Steelhead appliance is in degraded mode because of a high CPU utilization on one or more CPUs. The CPU utilization can be checked on the Reports -> Diagnostics -> CPU Utilization page. It will cause admission control, but this feature is not enabled by default.
admissionTcpError
This SNMP trap will be send out when the Steelhead appliance is low on network memory buffers. It will cause admission control, and no new TCP sessions will be optimized until the issue has been resolved.
The most common cause for this is the presence of slow clients, that are computers which have requested large amounts of data but are very slow in receiving it. When this occurs, the Steelhead appliance must buffer the data. Slow clients are most commonly caused by speed and duplex issues in the path between the Steelhead appliance LAN side and the client computer.
