Solution
When installing the Aternity on premise platform, the system sizing documentation specifies the required space for the Vertica data partition based on the deployment size
Choose Aternity Sizing and Hardware System Requirements

In addition to our documented data requirements,  the installation requires around 1.5gb on the root partition or / in order to copy the installer files and write the installation logs . In most cases the root(/) partition has more than enough space however in cases where there is under 1.5gb available, the installer may fail. To resolve the issue clear 1.5gb from the root(/) file system and re run the Vertica installation again.
