I cannot add a MIB to poll a UDM metric from the wizard.

Categories: SteelCentral NetIM
Solution Number: S33273

Issue

When attempting to add a custom or third-party MIB to a device in UDM wizard, we run into the error message  This MIB does not contain any OIDs suitable for polling.

Solution

A good number of MIBs have a metrics listed in them which are actually imported from other MIBs.
You can open the intended MIB file in a text editor and review all the metrics that are imported from other MIBs. This is usually in the beginning of the MIB file.
The format of a the CISCO-RTTMON.mib is as follows.

IMPORTS
    MODULE-IDENTITY,
    OBJECT-TYPE,
    NOTIFICATION-TYPE,
           FROM SNMPv2-SMI
    NOTIFICATION-GROUP,
    MODULE-COMPLIANCE,
    OBJECT-GROUP
           FROM SNMPv2-CONF

For example, the metrics  MODULE-IDENTITY, OBJECT-TYPE and NOTIFICATION-TYPE are taken from the SNMPv2-SMI MIB.

Please ensure the SNMPv2-SMI.mib file is also present  in the same folder as the CISCO-RTTMON.mib file and is not corrupted or has a different permissions setting.
