Issue
In certain situations, the Aternity Servers (Management, Data Warehouse or Aggregation) may have it's hostname and/or IP changed. When this happens, the Aternity configuration must be updated to ensure servers can connect to each other with the updated information.
Solution
Before starting, stop the Aternity environment in the following order:
  • Aggregation Server(s)
  • Data Warehouse Server
  • Management Server
If the hostname or IP of the Management Server has changed, follow the steps for Management Server and any applicable decoupled servers.
If the hostname or IP of the Data Warehouse or Aggregation server has changed, follow the steps for the applicable decoupled server.

Management Server
  1. On Management server, launch \data\Aternity\ConfigTool.exe as an administrator (right-click > Run as Administrator)
  2. Choose Reconfigure Server
  3. On the first screen, update the information of the Management server then click Next
  4. Move through the following screens till the end as everything else remains the same (Port, Memory, etc.)
  5. At the last screen, before finishing the configuration if you have decoupled servers uncheck Start AternityPlatform as there are additional steps to take below for the applicable servers. If there are no decoupled servers, you may check Start AternityPlatform and start the Management server. This completes the configuration change.
  6. Verify you're able to reach the Aternity console login page with the new hostname or IP
Updating Decoupled Servers

  4. At the end, do not start the AternityPlatform service and click Finish
Aggregation Server(s)
  1. On Aggregation server, launch \data\Aternity\ConfigTool.exe as an administrator (right-click > Run as administrator)
  2. Choose Reconfigure Server
  3. Go through the screens and update the Management Server information
  4. At the end, do not start the AterntyPlatform service and click Finish
  5. Repeat the steps if you have multiple Aggregation servers
Once the configuration has been updated for decoupled servers, bring the Aternity environment back up in the following order:
  • Management Server

  • Aggregation Server(s)
