You or your DBA may have noticed that some Oracle tables for v9 has advanced compression enabled:

Is Oracle's Advanced Compression Option (ACO) required for v9.x and can it be disabled? What about if our Oracle license does not include the use of this feature?

Yes, ACO is a required feature for v9 to work properly and cannot be disabled.
The OEM Oracle license that is included with the purchase of Aternity allows for the use of this feature. The licensed version of Oracle that comes with Aternity is called Database Enterprise Edition, with Partitioning and Advanced compression. Please note that it is only allowed for use with Aternity and no other applications.
