SteelCentral NetPlanner 18.0 installation was completed with errors on Linux Server

Solution Number: S25319

Issue

I am installing SteelCentral NetPlanner on Linux OS, the installation of the software was complete with the message below:

The installation of Riverbed SteelCentral NetPlanner 18.0 is finished, but some errors occurred during the install.

Solution

Generate the debug logs using the steps provided in the KB S25412. You will have to run the installer again to generate the debug logs.

On a Linux machine, if the debug message shows “too many open files” errors like below, it means the open file limit needs to be increased on the system for the installer to run.

java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/448630.tmp/.InstallAnywhere_Duplicates_Temp/df608e6a6c6170dff48b91479a25c46d (Too many open files)

Below is an example to increase the open file limit to 10000 for root user on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Contact your system administrator for instructions specific to your system.

  1. As root user, vi /etc/security/limits.conf
  2. Add a line: “root hard nofile 10000”
  3. Logout and relogin a shell as root
  4. Type “ulimit –n 10000”

After making the changes, remove the existing installation and re-run the Installer.

Environment

Linux 64, SteelCentral NetPlanner, SteelCentral NetAuditor (Desktop Only), RHEL, Red Hat Enterprise Linux
