AirPcap NX card will not recognize driver; card appears as USB 2.0 WLAN

Issue

After installing the AirPcap NX driver and following the installation instructions, the AirPcap NX adapter is not recognized in the Windows Device Manager. 

If the device does not show under Device Manager -> Packet Capture Devices, look for another wireless device with a question mark (usually under "Other devices"). 

In the example below an AirPcap Nx is not programmed and is listed as "USB 2.0 WLAN" under Windows Device Manager:

Solution

When an AirPcap NX card is inserted and does not show up under “Packet Capture Devices”, but an “Other Devices” item does appear, please contact Riverbed support for an RMA and reference this KB.
