How do I rotate the sectors' coverage in a three-sector WiMAX BS?

Solution

The 3-sector BS provided in the WiMAX model palette has the following typical sector orientation:.....................................Sector 1........................Sector 2 ---------............/......................./..Sector 3........../..............Sector 1: Covers Northeast (0 to 120 degrees, *with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 2)Sector 2: Covers West (120 to 240 degrees, *with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 3)Sector 3: Covers Southeast (240 to 360 degrees, *with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 1)*NOTE: Total coverage of the sector antenna is 160 degrees to create an overlap area between adjacent sectors in the same BS. This will serve handover between sectors.Another typical sector arrangement (not supported in the model) is described below, followed by the instructions to modify the existing 3-sector BS node model to support it.......Sector 1/....................../....................../....................../...........Sector 2|Sector 3.............|.........................|.........................|............Sector 1: Covers North (30 to 150 degrees, with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 2)Sector 2: Covers Southwest (150 to 270 degrees, with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 3)Sector 3: Covers Southeast (270 to 30 degrees, with extra 40 degrees overlap with sector 1)To rotate the 3-sector BS node model to match the above sector coverage, perform the follow steps:1) Open 3-sector BS node model (wimax3_bs_atm2_ethernet2_slip4_wlan_router_adv)2) Edit the attributes of the antenna module that corresponds to sector 1 (wimax_ant_8_0)3) Change the attribute pointing ref.theta to 60 (original value is 90). Click OK button.4) Edit the attribute of the antenna module that corresponds to sector 2 (wimax_ant_9_0)5) Change the attribute pointing ref.theta to 300 (original value is 330). Click OK button.6) Edit the attribute of the antenna module that corresponds to sector 3 (wimax_ant_10_0)5) Change the attribute pointing ref.theta to 180 (original value is 210). Click OK button.6) Save the node model. You may save it under a different name and create another 3-sector BS with this alternative sector orientation. If you change the original node model and you want to revert to the default settings, follow these steps again using the original values indicated above.
