Issue

We have installed 12.0 or later release Modeler into a write-protected directory. Whenever we try to run a simulation users get write permissions errors when attempting to compile the necessary supporting models. We did not have these problems with prior releases.

Solution

Due to space limitations on the installation CD, OPNET 12.0 onward no longer supplies the pre-compiled models. In most cases, the models directory is writable and the files are built on an as-needed basis. If your models installation is within a read-only area users will encounter problems when running simulations. To work around this, a user that does have write permissions can pre-build all of the files after installation by running the following command from the OPNET Console: op_mko -allModeler will now find all the files it needs when it is run by the standard users. Note that it would be suggested that any tutorial or other files that may need modification by the user be saved to their own home directory before use. Related output files cannot be generated without write permissions.
