Issue

I am tring to modify or add new sub-attributes in a standard compound attribute, but I can not manage to edit the properties of the compound attribute.

Solution

The compound attribute is most likely a public attribute.Attribute properties are either private or public, as indicated by the radio buttons at the top of the Attribute Properties dialog box. When attribute properties are public, they are saved to disk. This lets you create a set of properties that can be assigned to other attributes, eliminating the need to re-create the same properties each time they are needed. In addition, because public attribute properties are shared among many objects, you can change them for one attribute and all attributes using that set of public properties will automatically inherit the same changes. That is the reason why you can not edit them.If you click on Edit Compound Attribute Properties, you will be able to set the attribute to Private and modify it. You can leave it as private or you can set it back as public and save it if you wish the change to be applied on all attributes calling this public compound attribute. An example of public compound attribute is RED Parameters in the QoS configuration object. This is shared by all queuing schemes. For more information about Public Attribute Properties, see the Modeler documentation, vol. Modeling Concepts, ch. Modeling Framework, sec. Modeling System Structure, subsec. Attributes.
