Issue

My discrete event simulation does not seem to progress on a Windows machine. How can I find out which event it is stuck in?

Solution

There is a trick to output the current OPNET function call stack to the error log. The following procedure applies to OPNET on Microsoft Windows operating systems only.1. Use Windows Task Manager to find the process ID (PID) of op_runsim.2. Create a file named fstack_dump.<PID> in op_admin directory.3. Observe the fstack_dump.<PID> disappears and check the Error Log (under the Help menu) to see the function call stack. The function call stack will include the simulation time, event number, and other information.
