How can I collect the same statistic in different (multiple) collection modes in the same simulation run?

Solution

This can be done using the Choose Statistics (Advanced) option in the Simulation menu. If you have already selected a statistic, it will show up in the list of probes. Otherwise, a probe can be added by clicking on the appropriate action button (for global statistics, node statistics, link statistics etc.)Once you have set up a single probe on a particular statistic collecting in one mode, you can duplicate the probe by copying and pasting (CTRL+c, CTRL+v). For the new probes, you may set up the collection mode to different values. For example, you may want one probe to collect Bucket Mode -> Max Value and another probe to collect Bucket Mode -> Mean Value for the same statistic. Now comes the critical step. Each probe has an attribute called the tag. This attribute must be set to different values for each probe. Since the statistic and group names remain the same, this tag value is the one that uniquely identifies each statistic. After running the simulation, when you click on View Results, you will see that the tag string specified becomes an additional level of hierarchy. You can now select and display the statistics for different collection modes in the manner you want.
