Issue

I modified my process model's .pr.c file (List Code) in an external text editor. But when I compile my process model, all my changes are lost. What is going on?

Solution

A process model in OPNET is a binary file and cannot be modified outside of the OPNET environment. The actual process model is stored in the form of a .pr.m file. When you compile the process model, OPNET first generates (or regenerates) the .pr.c file from the .pr.m, and then compiles the .pr.c to a .pr.o file. If you prefer to use a text editor other than OPNET's built-in editor, you can change the editor_prog environment preference. This will allow you to use your preferred editor for editing process model code within the OPNET GUI.Also see: FAQs: 890, 82
