What is the typical workflow for using OPNET's segmentation and reassembly (SAR) package?
Sending Module:- Create segmentation buffer.- Insert packets into the segmentation buffer.- Remove 'n' bits at a time from the segmentation buffer as mini-packets.- Transmit mini-packets.Receiving Module:- Create reassembly buffer.- Insert mini-packets received from sending module.- Each time a mini-packet is inserted, check the reassembly buffer to determine whether a complete packet has been received yet.- Remove complete packets as they crop up.Detection of Dropped Pieces:- Mimic what would be done in the actual system. E.g., keep track ofpacket numbers on each channel, and if a later packet is completed beforethe earlier one, then flag the earlier one as dropped. For more information on the SAR package, please refer to the Package Overview section of the Segmentation and Reassembly Package Kernel Procedure documentation, as well as the documentation on the individual Kernel Procedures.
