Security Finder

You can use the Security Finder to search for security issues and their impact on Riverbed products. This page is continuously updated, displaying the most current public security issues first. The search box can be used to look up records by specific CVE numbers or relevant search word, e.g. Apache, 8.5.0, Workaround. For additional search tips, refer to article S16165. Security issues listed here are categorized into three groups: fixed, workaround recommended and not applicable.

For general security topics, security best practices and other security related topics, try performing a general search.

SSH CBC Mode Plaintext Recovery - Remote (Bug #227192)

Details:

Some security scanners may report an SSH CBC mode remote plaintext recovery vulnerability on RiOS.

Workaround:

This is an existing low severity vulnerability in SSH when using CBC ciphers. It has not been patched and there is no CVE associated. OpenSSH released an advisory (http://www.openssh.com/txt/cbc.adv) detailing its low likelihood and recommended a config change to prioritize CTR ciphers over CBC. 

This recommendation is adhered to in all shipping versions of SteelHead 8.0 and higher, SteelHead Interceptor 4.0 and higher, SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead 8.0 and higher, and SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead Mobile 4.0 and higher

Recommendation:

Upgrade to an appropriate version of RiOS (as indicated above) that prioritizes the recommended CTR ciphers in SSH connections.
 
Applies To:

RiOS versions of SteelHead before 8.0, SteelHead Interceptor before 4.0, SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead before 8.0, and SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead Mobile before 4.0.
