Security Finder

You can use the Security Finder to search for security issues and their impact on Riverbed products. This page is continuously updated, displaying the most current public security issues first. The search box can be used to look up records by specific CVE numbers or relevant search word, e.g. Apache, 8.5.0, Workaround. For additional search tips, refer to article S16165. Security issues listed here are categorized into three groups: fixed, workaround recommended and not applicable.

CVE-1999-0502: Default or blank password for user account (Bug #227133)

Summary

Details:

CVE-1999-0502: Some security scanners might report that a default or blank password is being used for the 'admin' account. 

Workaround:

Configure a strong password for the RiOS 'admin' account using the CLI "username admin password [options]" or the web interface.

Recommendation:

Blank and default passwords such as the username should never be used. Customers should configure strong passwords for all user accounts managing a RiOS device and this is extremely critical for the 'admin' account. Admin user accounts with weak passwords can easily be compromised allowing malicious activity such as data loss, service disruption and so on.
