Cumulative update for OpenSSL security advisory - secadv_20141015 (includes "Poodle" attack) (Bug #205667)

Products:
SteelHead (Appliance), SteelHead Interceptor
Fixed in Version:
steelhead 8.5.3c, steelhead 9.0.0, steelhead 8.6.2, steelhead 8.0.6c, interceptor 4.5.1
Last Modified:
2015-07-08
Summary
Details:

This update addresses the following issues:

CVE-2014-3566 (POODLE attack): The SSL protocol 3.0, as used in OpenSSL through 1.0.1i and other products, uses nondeterministic CBC padding, which makes it easier for man-in-the-middle attackers to obtain cleartext data via a padding-oracle attack.

CVE-2014-3567 (Session ticket memory leak): A flaw in the session ticket integrity check mechanism allows an attacker to cause a denial of service attack by sending a large number of invalid session tickets.

CVE-2014-3568 (Incomplete no-ssl3 build option): When OpenSSL is configured with "no-ssl3" as a build option, the option was effectively ignored, and SSL 3.0 was still allowed.

Fix:

OpenSSL has been updated to address CVE-2014-3566, CVE-2014-3567 and CVE-2014-3568. This update also includes a fix for CVE-2014-3513, though RiOS is not impacted by it.

Recommendation:

Upgrade to patched version if applicable
