CVE-2014-0198: OpenSSL do_ssl3_write with SSL_MODE_RELEASE_BUFFERS denial of service via alerts (Bug #166123)

Products:
SteelHead (Appliance), SteelCentral Controller for SteelHead (Central Management Console)
Fixed in Version:
cmc 8.6.0a, steelhead 9.0.0
Last Modified:
2015-06-04
Summary
Details:

The do_ssl3_write function OpenSSL 1.x through 1.0.1g, when SSL_MODE_RELEASE_BUFFERS is enabled, does not properly manage a buffer pointer during certain recursive calls, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash) via vectors that trigger an alert condition.

Fix:

Applied patch to OpenSSL used for device management for CVE-2014-0198.

Recommendation:

Upgrade to patched version if applicable.
